This room provides a fascinating glimpse of local history. The 300-year-old "Tinkers Room" or "Beverly Jog" once was a storeroom or sales room for shoemakers. Called an ell because it was built like an "L" off the back of an historic home, the Tinker’s Room was heated with a wood burning stove. The invention of insulation was far in the future, so the room was quite cold in winter and overly hot and sunny in the summer. It was in need of a comprehensive pick-me-up -- which is just what it got!
